Inspired by reputed jeans of Kojima street in Japan, Designers including NIFT Delhi Alumnus wanted their first wholesale jeans store of Bangalore based start-up brand ‘Kozimo Japan’ in an only metro city of god’s own country Kerala, Ernakulam. The site is located on the second floor of Ernakulam’s first commercial mall that is Esplanade mall, which is now used as wholesale stores for different clothing brands, where the existing room was used by Raymond Group.

Client requirements included leisure sitting and discussion area unlike retail stores and we had to design by considering the differences of the retail and wholesale store while respecting the brand guide of their brand.

Programs are divided into three areas where customers enter to display and lobby area before moving into the reception desk which can be seen from the entrance. Storeroom is situated privately besides billing area accessible only by staffs.

Site had existing shelves of old Raymond group placed directly on floor slab below floor finish level which we eventually decided to not cover the exposed floor and new shelves evolved aligning to that area. Since the brand colour is red, we had to use it attentively and the green colour of indoor plants balanced colours. Nature touch is given by adding these plants, stones, and earth materials. Exposed finishes used in certain areas and lighting placed in precise positions helped to meet sense evoke feelings.
